General
Information:
Most of the baskets on our site
are handled by two very trusted partners that we've developed relationships
with over the course of the last 10 years. We have one company located in
British Columbia and one company in Eastern Canada. Both companies are the very
best in Canada at creating beautiful baskets and handling the shipping aspects.
Rest assured that B Young Baskets is fully responsible for your orders and if
there is a problem, we will solve it for you quickly and efficiently. All
custom work is still designed, created and shipped by B Young Baskets
personally.
Shipping standards are created by our couriers, not us. We
will always ship the method you have paid for even if your desired arrival
date is before the delivery standard date. This means if you have requested
your package to arrive in Toronto in one day and you've paid for ground
service - 4-5 business days, we will ship via ground. Please select the most
appropriate shipping method if your gift is time sensitive. We are not
responsible for shipping delays from couriers or common carriers. If your
parcel is more than 3 days late after the delivery standard has passed, we
will be happy to credit your freight costs back to your credit card and
initiate a trace on your package.
Please note that shipment time on our order page reflects business days.
All orders are shipped within 1 business day of receipt of order which means
that we require a 24 hr window to create, wrap and have your order ready
before it leaves our facility. Deliveries are performed
weekdays between the hours of 9:00am and 5:00pm. At this time we are unable to do
weekend/evening deliveries. Although we do our best to accomodate special
requests, we cannot guarantee specific time of day deliveries. Our volume increases substantially at Christmas and
we may need additional time to process your order before shipping. We will
post messages at the top of each page during the Christmas season to advise
you of any shipping delays.
If a basket is returned to us because of an incorrect address provided
by you, we can re-ship the basket to the recipient at an additional freight
cost....Please check
your addresses carefully!
Delivery
Standards
Delivery Standards measure the allowable time given by the courier in
business days, not counting the ship date, in order to guarantee delivery. If you package
does not arrive within the timelines given our guarantee covers the freight charges only.
We cannot refund the package contents until it is returned to us or a claim is made
against the carrier and they guarantee it is lost. Occasionally packages are delayed in
shipping due to weather, mechanical breakdown etc.
Delivery Standards across Canada vary between Major Centers (Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary,
Toronto, Montreal etc) and outlying areas. The following are guidelines representing
delivery standards across Canada.

Dimensional
Weight
Dimensional weight (also called minimum density weight and the cubing
rule) ensures that the postage for a lightweight, bulky parcel adequately covers the cost
of transportation for the space it occupies. The shipping price is based on the greater of
the dimensional weight or the actual weight.
To determine the dimensional weight of the parcel you follow this
formula:
Length x Width x Height = Volume
Then divide the Volume either by 6,000 if you are measuring in
centimeters, or 165 if you are measuring in inches. All box measurements on this site are
in inches so our formula is:
Volume165 = Dimensional Weight.

Courier Service to Residential Addresses
At Christmastime especially it's extrodinarily hard to keep up
with busy people! We have offered residential delivery in the past, however we
have found that shipping Canada Post to residential addresses is more convenient
for the recipients and a much, much more secure method of delivery. There are
several reasons for this. First of all, during the week preceeding Christmas we
are unable to give a time frame beyond "business hours" therefore making the
party wait around all day for their delivery. Even if the request is to "just
leave it at the door", there are numerous problems that can arise. One, the
weather is temperamental...rain, snow, sleet and wind contribute to baskets
being ruined and blown all over the neighborhood. Two, animals can get to the
baskets and three....well baskets are pretty darn tempting and theft is a
possibility.
So we've decided for the best interest of our clients to ship
these residential orders out by common courier (Canada Post, UPS, FedEx). By doing this if the recipient is not
home, the driver will come back the following day after attempting delivery with
a notice to let the recipient know that they have a delivery and where to pick
it up. It is then kept in a secure environment until the recipient, at their
leisure, can pick up their parcel.
I hope this makes things a little clearer, as we don't want to
dissapoint anyone!
